Om Designs is an Australian fashion label known for its flattering styles and colourful and funky prints. We specialise in the finest quality women’s cotton dresses and clothing that is designed in Darwin and ethically made with love in India.
In 1989, Emma made her first trip to India. She soon fell in love with the country and its people, spending much of the next decade travelling all over India. During one of her many trips to India, Emma met her husband and they now have 3 children.
Emma wanted to start a business that involved India, and in 2008, OM DESIGNS was born!
Along with her 3 children, Emma travels to India for 6 to 8 weeks every year, where she gets samples made, selects fabrics and oversees production. Emma has been working with the same factory in India for many years and she considers everyone she works with and their families, her family.
Om Designs is a proud supporter of KIVA. Kiva’s mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva is the world’s first person to person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to entrepreneurs in the developing world. A hand up not a hand out. The people you see on Kiva’s website are real individuals in need of small short term loans for business development. When you browse entrepreneurs’ profiles on the site, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family and their community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6 – 12 months), you can receive email journal updates and track repayments until the loan is fully repaid.
